North West Marine Installs Triton Permanent Oil Boom and Deterrent Barrier for SEWA in Hamriyah
18 Feb 2025
North West Marine & Aviation Solutions has successfully completed the design, supply, and installation of a Triton permanent oil boom and a deterrent barrier at the Hamriyah Power Station for the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA). The primary goal of the installation was to protect the water intake system from oil spills and floating debris that could compromise its operation and damage the environment. The Triton permanent oil boom serves as an effective barrier to contain and control any potential contamination in the water.
The deterrent barrier, constructed using TMF-250 floats assembled with high-strength ropes, is strategically placed to demarcate critical areas and protect vital infrastructure. It features Sealite SLB1500 signage buoys for clear identification, along with Sealite SL60 marine lanterns equipped with GPS for enhanced visibility, ensuring safe navigation around the power station. This solution provides both environmental protection and security for SEWA’s assets.
Additionally, North West Marine has been awarded an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) to regularly inspect and maintain the oil boom and deterrent barrier, ensuring their long-term functionality and efficiency. This installation reinforces North West Marine’s commitment to providing high-quality marine solutions that enhance environmental sustainability and security for critical infrastructure across the UAE.
